At the end of April 2025, Mingjie Group completed the MJ-15 pyrolysis plastic recycling plant installation and commissioning in Philippines. Customers purchase pyrolysis machine mainly to process plastics from municipal solid waste. Considering the complex composition of plastics that the customer wanted to process, we recommended the MJ-15 batch pyrolysis plant.
 
In the pyrolysis of municipal solid waste, plastic is one of the most valuable key components that contributes the most to the pyrolysis products (especially high-quality oil). The pyrolysis effect of plastics (especially polyolefins) is very ideal, with high oil yield and good oil quality.

The Philippines Clean Air Act prohibits the incineration of municipal solid waste, medical waste, hazardous waste, and any process that produces toxic and harmful fumes. This makes incineration difficult to implement in the Philippines. ​

Plastic Pyrolysis Principle
 
Pyrolysis, also known as dry distillation in the industrial field, is a key technology based on the thermal instability of organic matter. The core process of plastic pyrolysis is to apply heat energy to organic matter in a specific environment without oxygen or oxygen deficiency to break its chemical bonds. This achieves the transformation of macromolecular organic matter into small molecular substances, and finally generates combustible gas, liquid oil and solid residue.
 
From the nature of chemical reactions, plastic pyrolysis is a complex process. It includes multiple reactions such as molecular bond breaking, rearrangement, and polymerization. When the organic matter in the plastic is heated, it will first undergo a dehydration reaction, and then it may undergo a demethylation or dehydrogenation reaction. As the temperature rises further, the generated aromatic ring compounds will continue to undergo cracking, dehydrogenation, condensation, hydrogenation and other reactions.
 
Differences Between Incineration and Pyrolysis Plastic Recycling
 
Incineration is an aerobic oxidation reaction, while pyrolysis is an oxygen-free or anoxic reaction.
The incineration process is exothermic, while pyrolysis plastic recycling is an endothermic process.
The main products of incineration are carbon dioxide and water. The plastic pyrolysis products are mainly combustible synthetic gas, liquid fuel oil and solid carbon black.
The heat energy generated by incineration is generally used directly nearby. The plastic pyrolysis products (combustible gas, oil, carbon black) have the advantages of storage and long-distance transportation. They can be more flexibly applied to different scenarios.
