Oil Sludge Disposal Methods
 
The hazards of oily sludge cannot be underestimated, posing a serious threat to both the environment and human health. Numerous oil sludge disposal methods have emerged, each with its own unique advantages and limitations.
 
Currently, although there are various oil sludge disposal methods, including physical, chemical, and biological methods, each has limitations. They are unlikely to meet the treatment needs of all types of oily sludge. Many oily sludge treatment methods are energy-intensive, significantly increasing treatment costs.
 
Thermal desorption method requires high-temperature heating to volatilize or vaporize the oil in the sludge, followed by condensation to recover the oil. This process consumes significant amounts of energy, such as natural gas and coal. In addition to energy costs, oil sludge treatment equipment investment costs are also not negligible.
 
The pyrolysis method has the advantages of reducing the amount of oil, being harmless and resource-based, and has a good treatment effect on sludge of different properties and sources. Most oil fields in my country have begun to use this technology to treat oily sludge and have achieved certain results.
 
The non-condensable gases and liquid products produced during pyrolysis can also pose environmental risks if not properly handled. Effectively controlling and reducing secondary pollution and ensuring a safe and environmentally friendly treatment process are crucial issues in oily sludge treatment. How Does Oil Sludge Pyrolysis Equipment Achieve Resource Recovery?
 
The core operating principle of oil sludge pyrolysis equipment is based on pyrolysis technology. In an oxygen-free or oxygen-deficient environment, the oil sludge is heated to cause the organic components in it to undergo thermal decomposition, gradually converting them into three products: gaseous (pyrolysis gas), liquid (pyrolysis oil), and solid (pyrolysis residue). This decomposes harmful substances in the oil sludge and allows for resource recovery.
 
Pretreatment: Oil sludge with high moisture content and uneven composition is dehydrated, crushed, and mixed. The moisture content is reduced to below 30%, resulting in a uniform mass or powder, paving the way for the subsequent pyrolysis reaction.
 
Oil Sludge Pyrolysis: The pretreated oil sludge is transported to the pyrolysis furnace, the core component of the oil sludge treatment equipment. The pyrolysis furnace maintains a temperature of 300-600°C using electric heating, gas heating, or heat recovery from the pyrolysis gas itself. Sealing devices ensure an oxygen-free or low-oxygen environment. Under these conditions, the long-chain hydrocarbon organic matter in the oil sludge is broken down into short-chain molecules, gradually decomposing into pyrolysis gas and pyrolysis oil vapor.
 
Product separation and purification: The mixed gas produced by pyrolysis enters a condensation system, where indirect cooling condenses the pyrolysis oil vapor into liquid pyrolysis oil. Uncondensed pyrolysis gas undergoes desulfurization, dust removal, and other purification processes. A portion can be fed back into the pyrolysis furnace as fuel, achieving energy recycling. The solid pyrolysis slag is cooled and discharged.
 
Exhaust gas and waste residue treatment: The small amount of exhaust gas generated during the entire process undergoes advanced treatment, including activated carbon adsorption and catalytic combustion, to ensure compliance with emission standards. Waste residue carbon black is then sorted and disposed of based on its composition, achieving the goal of “zero pollution” in oil sludge treatment.
